Letterboxing

This post is for Cousin Ash and anyone else who wants to explore where they live.
Letterboxing is a fun and basically free hobby. You sign up here (I don't think you have to but we did) http://letterboxing.org/ You give yourself a name. We are "The Party of Five" we made stickers, you could always just write it. Then we bought a stamp, a stamp pad and a notebook. Then you go to the website above, locate where you live and find where boxes are hidden. You do not use GPS for letterboxing. Letterboxes usually take you to beautiful must see places. When you find the box you will find a stamp (some are really awesome handmade stamps) and a notebook, sometimes a stamp pad. You then use their stamp to stamp your book, write down the name of the place. You then stamp their book with your stamp and leave your name for them. If you look through the book you will see messages sometimes and some people leave where they are from. An example is our first box had a stamp from the UK, a couple and their grandchildren where traveling across America and letterboxing as they went. The kids thought it was so cool. Our first box was on the original Route 66 that is not longer used. I didn't even know this place existed. If you sign up you can also make a box and leave it with directions on the web-site for other people to find. We have always wanted to do this. I think we might this summer when we are in Lake Arrowhead. If you go on vacation remember to print out a few locations. Have fun, love Hannah and her mom!

****Any kind of stamp will work:) We got ours at the Dollar Tree, they also sell ink pads and small books.****

  1. okay so like a ink stamp, stamp? Can it be any kind? This sounds like a lot of fun. We'll definitely have to look this up. Thank you HANNAH!
