A night at the Library
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the library,
All creatures were reading, even the mouse (with his glass of milk);
The bookmarks were placed in the books with care,
In hopes that the librarian would soon be there;
The children were nestled all snug on their chairs,
While visions of adventures played out in their heads.
With Sarah in science fiction and Jarod in non-fiction,
They were both preparing for a short winter break.
When out in the parking lot snow began to fall,
We jumped from our chairs to throw a few balls.
And low and behold it wasn’t snow,
But cheese being thrown from the store below.
When, what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But Hannah dressed up like a tiny reindeer,
With a short little giggle and a quick little jig,
We knew in a moment a gift she would give.
More rapid than eagles the librarians ascended,
And shouted to all, the story has ended!
"Happy reading to all, and to all now turn off the lights."
